Background Information

Citybuild, Hull's Urban Regeneration Company, is leading an ambitious £1.75bn urban renaissance of Hull, supported by its core partners, Yorkshire Forward, Hull City Council and English Partnerships. The company's primary objective is to create more employment opportunities in the city. Part of Citybuild's activity has included successfully securing Hull "World Trade Centre status," the first in the North of England.

The World Trade Centre Hull aims to create a regional, national and international business hub building on core successes. It will draw together a range of services being delivered by Hull and Humber Chamber of Commerce, UK Trade and Investment, Hull City Council, Yorkshire Forward, University of Hull and Humber Economic Partnership.
Brief

To build a website that positions Hull and Humber as a hub for international business and trade, change business perceptions and increase confidence in the Hull and Humber area.

To encourage local businesses to engage more in international trade and/or take advantage of resulting supply chain opportunities and attract new International business (looking for a presence in Europe) to the area.

To ultimately increase International Trade and Business in the Hull and Humber region.

Solution

The phase one launch contained a design that is clean, professional, and complimentary to the World Trade Center Association's global brand whilst creating a unique identity for Hull's World Trade Centre. This took place in advance of the physical set up of the World Trade Centre itself and is information led.

Accessibility and usability were core to our scope and build stages. Flash has been used on the website but only where it adds real value. Fall back images appear whenever a site user without Flash installed visits the site. Due to future expansion of the site, planning has been crucial to ensure that the site retains its clarity and integrity.

Interaction with the site has been encouraged using rotating testimonials and poll questions. These and all other site elements are fully content manageable allowing complete client control.

Site metrics data is tracked to monitor visitor behaviour and inform further development of the site.

Outcome

“We selected Ripe to develop our World Trade Centre Hull & Humber website because of their audience-led approach and innovative thinking. Ripe have done a great job and pushed us to think about new ways of engaging our audiences online.” Nicola Plant, Marketing Manager, Hull Citybuild.
